My DIL sent me this link to a Martha Stewart web page with directions for a cute tooth fairy pillow. http://www.marthastewart.com/270949/tooth-fairy-pillow-craft?czone=crafts/sewing-cnt/sewing-projects¢er=326405&gallery=274690&slide=270949
I’m going to make one or two for their two boys, but I may try making a few more, too. I have some odds and ends of flannel that need to be used, and I’m thinking about trying one using denim jeans pockets for the pillow part. I found another idea that I want to try with jeans pockets, too. But first I want to finish the courthouse steps table runner I’ve been working on, and the St. Patrick’s Day table runner that I’ve had laid out for quite a while.
I finished the last of the courthouse steps blocks tonight. I really like the way they turned out. Now all I have to do is get the blocks stitched together and add a border. Since I’m doing to in rag quilt style, the quilting is already finished, although I do have some basting stitches to remove.
I finished it while I watched Downton Abby, and the behind the scenes story. That was interesting, too. It helped me understand what was going on since this was only the third episode that I had watched.
After all my hopes that I had my computer fixed, it was doing to same thing again this afternoon, so a broke down and downloaded FireFox. So far, so good. I was able to do a lot of work this afternoon that I had been putting off. I was able to print shipping labels from PayPal without a hitch for the first time since I got the dish.
I wanted French Fries for dinner tonight, so I found this recipe for oven fresh seasoned potato wedges. Of coarse, I didn’t follow the recipe! I cut three medium potatoes into eighths, put the pieces in a bowl and coated them with 1 Tbsp of olive oil. Then I combined 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese, 1/2 teaspoon garlic salt, 1/2 teaspoon seasoned salt, 1/2 teaspoon parsley flakes, and 1/4 teaspoon coarse grind black pepper and stirred that mixture with the potatoes. I spread them on a baking sheet and baked them at 425 for 25 minutes, turning once. They were better than French Fries. I think the cheese was the difference. It gave them a nice little crust.
I made some progress on my paperwork today, but there is still a stack of stuff that I need to go through. Perhaps I will try to do a little bit each day. I found some embroidery floss yesterday, too. I want to try adding some flowers or just some decorative stitches to some of my linen things. I know I have a set directions for simple embroidery stitches somewhere, but I can’t find it. Does anyone have a web site with just a set of stitches and a few directions? Everything I have found so far goes into too much detail.
I didn’t go out and walk today. It was sunny but windy. And the 60 Minutes story about antidepressants was depressing. I have a hard time getting out of bed with my Celexa. I can’t imagine living without it. I’m trying to walk everyday to get my blood pressure under control. I thought it would be better once I stopped working, but it isn’t working out that way. Oh, well! Tomorrow’s another day.
The tooth fairy pillows sound very cute! I might have to make one and give it to my niece in a few years (she’s getting close to the tooth loosing age, but not quite).
The French Fries sound very tasty, they’re making my hungry! I love french fries but hate always getting the junk food kind (all that grease just doesn’t get along well with me). I might have to try this recipe…they really sound fantastic. Especially with the parmesan cheese.
Tooth fairy pillows are cute! You should make one.
We ate lunch out today, but my fries were better than the ones I had today. I will be making more of them, that’s for sure!
