Is it finished?

Okay, fellow quilters!  Is this finished, or do I need to do something to the border?  I adapted the shoo-fly block pattern for the five main blocks, but wasn't sure how to put them together or finish the edges.  Any suggestions?  I thought about adding appliqued leaves to the blue borders, but decided they would distract from the blocks.

I'm going to sleep on it tonight and see if anything comes to me.  I'll even accept comments from all you non-quilters out there!

  1. The blue in the border does look a little plain, but honestly, what I think it really needs is a large scale print fabric (but there's no way I'd suggest you take this one apart!). The color is good, it just needs some texture. Cut out a few appliques in a color that will blend more than contrast with the blue and lay them on top to see what you think. I think a deep green will give you the texture it needs without fighting with the blocks.

  2. I think you are right. Thanks so much! I tried some of the light and bright colors from the blocks and that didn't look right, but I didn't think about a dark green. I'm pretty sure I have some in my stash. I'll give it a try tomorrow and post another picture. Thanks again!!
