Beautiful Thursday in the country

I usually take pictures early in the morning or late in the afternoon, so today I broke with tradition and went outside at noon with a bright sun shining over head.  Don't know what these little star shaped flowers are, but I do like it that they wait until all the other spring flowers have bloomed.  They only grow a few inches tall, and multiply rapidly.

This is the first pale pink iris to bloom.  I just opened up this morning.

This purple iris opened this morning, too.

Here is my favorite photo of the day.  He's just a year old mutt that we are taking care of for our granddaughter, but when I took his picture, and when I look at it now, I feel connected to him.  Kind of weird, huh?  If you look closely, you can see me reflected in his eyes.  Pretty cool!  This is totally natural.  I didn't try to pose him or anything.  I was just walking back to the house after taking the flower photos.  Anyway, it made my day.

I have to go to work for the next three days, so you may not hear much from me.  Toodles!

  1. Lovely photos thanks for sharing. You were lucky to get such a wonderful picture of your granddaughters dog. You will have to print it out for her sometime.

That dog is gorgeous! It looks so calm. Those little star flowers are really pretty.

  3. When she brought them out a couple of weeks ago, they were pretty crazy. They had to be inside most of the time and couldn't go out and just run around. It took them over a week, but they are much calmer now. Our two year old twin grandkids came out tonight, and the dogs didn't try to push them down or anything. I was very proud of them.

  4. I will have to print it for her. I was really surprised that he sat so still and let me take his picture.

I am in complete envy of your pink iris … it has to be one of the most glorious flowers I have ever seen.

  6. It is pretty awesome. Glad you like it.
