I had pregnant female praying mantis here last year, but I never could find any egg cases. I wanted to see the babies hatch. This fellow is already an inch or so long. I saw the first one a couple of days ago.
I love the way they will just stare at you. This guy was a tad frightened, but he didn't run away completely.
We had a meal tonight that was all home grown. Ribeye steak, new red potatoes, whole green beans, buttered beets, corn on the cob, and cucumber salad. It was fantastic!

I would imagine this is a baby from one of the ones I saw last year. I'm going to have to go back out and look for him again tomorrow.
