Nap time

I took this shot of Lady on Saturday before I left for work.  I had to take it through the glass in the back door to keep from waking her up.  I was supposed to have Monday off, but they ask me to work anyway.  It wasn't too bad.  We got the orders done and several cakes for the cake case, too.  I worked by myself today.  I had a lot more orders than we usually do on Monday.  Today I felt really good about every cake I decorated.  I felt like I had done the best I could do.  Everyone seemed really happy when they picked up their cake, so that was nice, too.  I did make a couple of unique cakes that I took pictures of, but I will wait until tomorrow to post the pictures.  I want to go watch Monday night football!

If people are ordering more cakes maybe that means people's incomes or the hope of new or increased income is increasing.

Isn't it great to have satisfied, pleased customers? Economists think that people work for money, but many jobs, have a sort of artistic element to them. Sounds like yours definitely does.

  3. I wondered the same thing, too. It is hard to tell since they can pay for cakes with food stamps. What I want to know is, when did it become necessary to have a cake decorated with a kit and the child's name written on it to have a birthday party? Is it a cultural thing?

  4. You can't believe how upset I've gotten over cakes that customers didn't like! I suppose that is because I invest a little bit of me in every cake I make. Money doesn't come close to the good feeling I get when a customer is really happy.

It sure wasn't something I did for every birthday, but I think parents tend to compete with each other and children want to have the same things their friends have.

  6. I suppose that is true. Peer pressure is alive and well among parents as well as kids. Right now, the hot thing is 'Signature Cakes". They are very time consuming to make and sell for $38.00.

    OMGOSH!!! $38.00 !!!

  8. I know! I don't think I ever spent that much on their presents, much less a cake! Our basic kit cake is $19.48. That is still a lot of money to me.
