How-to: The creative process in quilting

Here’s a little insight into the creative process that I go through to come up with a new project.  Since I rarely follow directions and I never buy patterns, each Country By Design item is a product of my creative process.  And I don’t always know what I want to do.  A lot of it is trial and error.  Here’s what happened today.

Table mat idea layout

My sister had given me the pattern sheet and I thought it might be nice as a Valentine’s Day table mat.  I think it still has possibilities, but I’m not motivated to work it out right now.

Red and white fabrics

Here are the fabric squares I made earlier and my red and white fabrics that I wanted to use to make place mats.

Valentine Day squares place mats

Here’s the idea I had to put the squares together to make place mats, but they don’t sing and dance.  Another idea going to the back burner for a while.
