This is the only good picture I got of the hummingbirds last night. I had gone out and turned on the camera without thinking that it was dark enough for the flash to go off. As it turned out, you would not have been able to see him wihtout the flash! This one is a male ruby-throated hummingbird, even though the throat patch looks more like rust in this picture. You can see a little bit of his bright green feathers, too. This is probably about twice life size. He isn't actually in mid-air. I was able to edit out the feeder.

The light plays tricks with these guys sometimes if the light hits them right you can't even see the scarlet color at all but this is really great.

Thanks! It is a real challenge to get a shot of them. A lot of the frames end up just being the feeder, or the tree!
I know. At a certain angle, the red does show up at all! They are little miracles.
